KATE ARMSTRONG & LISA MADIGAN

We were thrilled to introduce textile designer KATE ARMSTRONG into our dedicated gallery space at the store in November 2011 with a collaborative exhibition with the works of LISA MADIGAN's salted grace collection.

Using LISA MADIGAN’s own recordings of the “beauty of wear”, Kate augmented forms & tones from within the paintings of the 'salted grace collection' in process of collaboration – where the space, designer, artist & visitors inform the outcome of the original design. A stunning textile installation & a harmonious exhibition ensued.

KATE ARMSTRONG worked with LISA MADIGAN to produce lengths of digital prints, specifically for the exhibition. Beautifully formed, expressive textures & forms within Lisa’s paintings were recorded & augmented into surface patterns, that when hung in the space, harness light & movement to be constantly dynamic and alive. The salted grace collection of luscious oil paintings by LISA MADIGAN hung beside the beautiful & dynamic textile installation of KATE ARMSTRONG, a stunning synergy, with the two work styles to be experienced in harmony.
